What Is a Prompt?
A prompt is the message or instruction you give to an AI system. It's how you talk to AI and tell it what you want. Think of it like ordering at a restaurant — the clearer your order, the better your meal!
Every time you type a question or instruction into an AI chatbot, that's your prompt. And the quality of your prompt directly affects the quality of the answer you get back.
🗣️ Prompting is actually a skill — and a really valuable one! People who learn to write great prompts get much better results from AI than people who just type quick questions.
Good Prompts vs. Not-So-Good Prompts
❌ Not-so-good prompt:
This is too vague. AI doesn't know what kind of information you want about dogs!
✅ Great prompt:
This is specific! AI knows exactly what you want — 5 facts, about a specific dog breed, in a fun list format. Much better!
Try This Activity!
Take this boring prompt: "Write about space." Rewrite it to make it as specific, interesting, and detailed as you can. Then try both versions with an AI and compare the answers. Which answer is better?
